"Based on the Canadian University's cutting-edge facilities, I am confident that it is on the right track to transform Sierra Leone's educational system," he said.

He underscores the hard work of the Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian University of Modern Technology as one that is worthy of commendation.

He maintained that there is a free space for private learning institutions to exist in the country, which is why the Canadian University of Modern Technology is here.

Minister Kamara noted that the government of President Bio is fully committed to improving the country's educational system, and "the introduction of free quality education and the student loan scheme is a clear testament of that," he said.

He appreciated the kind gesture of a colleague and friend, Mohamed Raman Swaray, the current Minister of Information and Communication, who helped him secure a scholarship to study abroad. "What I have become today cannot be disassociated with the kindness of Minister Swaray," Chancellor Muckson said.

Chancellor Muckson added that his philosophy is to move forward... and that the statement made by certain people against the establishment of the university in Mile 91 encouraged him to push more, Hence the people of Mile 91 needed the facility most.

He emphasized that CUMT is a place that is set up to prepare the minds of Sierra Leoneans to lead Sierra Leone on the right path.

He expressed thanks and appreciation to the government of Sierra Leone for committing 21% of the country's budget to education.

Professor Allyson Sesay said that it was a difficult situation for him to leave FBC to come to the Canadian University of Modern Technology.

"Thanks to my secondary school sweet heart for giving me the courage to come here," he said.

He maintained that with the knowledge acquired over the years, he will ensure he reviews and transforms the curriculum of the university from theory to practical-based learning.

The Canadian University of Modern Technology is surely a university that believes in practical learning.

Professor Allyson noted that the university's radio and television stations being run by students is a testament to that.

He said the university will do all it can to produce graduates that are fit for purpose.
